Hirst offered this tease: \u201cThe whole project is an artwork, and anyone who buys\u00a0The Currency<\/i>\u00a0will participate in this work. It\u2019s not just about owning it.\u201d<\/p>\n

THE BIG QUESTION IN SOUTH KOREA RIGHT NOW<\/b>\u00a0is what is going to happen to the voluminous art collection of\u00a0Lee Kun-hee<\/b>, the\u00a0Samsung<\/b>\u00a0chief who died last year at the age of 78. His heirs face a tax bill that could be as high\u00a0as $10 billion, and will soon have to begin paying. Lee\u2019s more than 10,000 artworks\u2014including choice pieces by\u00a0Picasso<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Rothko<\/b>\u00a0and key examples of traditional Korean art\u2014have been undergoing appraisal. Naturally, museums in the country would like that work, and some in the art industry have been\u00a0lobbying for the government<\/a>\u00a0to allow tax payments via art, the\u00a0Korea Herald<\/i>\u00a0reports. \u201cIf we don\u2019t have a system in place allowing tax payment by artwork, we\u2019ll lose the collection,\u201d\u00a0Lee Kwang-soo<\/b>, the president of the\u00a0Korean Fine Arts Association<\/b>,\u00a0told\u00a0Reuters<\/i>. Some reports have said that the family plans to\u00a0donate the works, or at least some of them,\u00a0regardless. The clock is ticking. Watch this space.<\/p>\n
