Over the past four decades,<b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">\u00a0<\/b>Martin has become known for his paintings using bold hues. Folk music, the art of Georgia O\u2019Keeffe, and the poetry of Allen Ginsburg have also been reference points for his photographic collages.\u00a0His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at institutions worldwide, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and Douglas Hyde Gallery in Dublin.\u00a0Timothy Taylor will present an exhibition of new paintings by Martin at its London space in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p><i data-stringify-type=\"italic\">Artist Turi Simeti Has Died at Age 91<\/i><br \/>\n<b data-stringify-type=\"bold\">Turi Simeti<\/b>, who is best known for his minimalist paintings, has died at age 91. The news was announced by Simeti\u2019s gallery, Almine Rech. The artist was born in Sicily in 1929, and he first exhibited his art alongside the work of artists associated with the \u201cArt Informel\u201d movement of the 1940s and \u201950s. When Simeti moved from Rome to Milan in the \u201960s, he began making the works he would become widely recognized for: monochromatic canvases with mysterious, protruding elements. Pierre\u2019s paintings vibrant figurative paintings are often informed by mythological and fantastical subjects. The artist, who participated in the 2019\u201320 Studio Museum in Harlem\u2019s artists-in-residence program, also frequently draws inspiration from Renaissance compositions.
