\nLehmann Maupin<\/b>, which has permanent gallery spaces in New York, Hong Kong, Seoul, and London and a temporary one in Palm Beach, Florida, will open another seasonal location in\u00a0Taipei<\/b>. The new outpost, located in the city\u2019s Da\u2019an District, will open on June 26 with a group show featuring work by Billy Childish, Tony Oursler, Robin Rhode, David Salle, Erwin Wurm, and Tom Friedman. The space is set to close in mid-August. In a statement, gallery cofounder Rachel Lehmann said, \u201cWhen I think about Taipei, I think about its highly sophisticated, informed, and motivated art collectors who come from a long history of arts patronage.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nancy Little John Fine Art Adds Rajab Ali Sayed to its Roster<\/i>
\nNancy Little John Fine Art\u00a0<\/b>in Houston now represents Los Angeles\u2013based painter\u00a0Rajab Ali Sayed<\/b>. His autobiographical works center the psychological and physical state of living between cultures and places, in his case his dual identity as a Pakistani and Filipino American. His paintings have been exhibited at Houston\u2019s Blaffer Art Museum in Houston and the Adele Golden Foundation in New York, among elsewhere. He will have his first solo exhibition with the gallery in fall 2021.<\/p>\n

Trudy Benson and Danny Ferrell Join Miles McEnery Gallery<\/i>
\nMiles McEnery Gallery<\/b>\u00a0in New York now represents\u00a0Trudy Benson<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Danny Ferrell<\/b>. Benson, who is known for her dynamic, abstract paintings, will have a solo exhibition with the gallery in winter 2021. Ferrell creates figurative, hyper-realistic paintings that examine identity and sexuality. He will have a solo show with at the gallery in spring 2022.<\/p>\n

Berggruen Gallery<\/a>\u00a0to Open East Hampton Location<\/i>

The pop-up will be located in East Hampton Village and will host a show from May 14 through September 30.\u00a0The space will present a selection of modern and contemporary paintings, sculptures, and prints.<\/p>\n

ArtTable Announces 2021 Fellowship Awardees<\/i>
\nArtTable<\/b>\u00a0has announced the participants for its 2021 summer fellowship program, which offers career opportunities to women-identified students and professionals in the arts. Each fellow will receive $4,000 each, and during the eight-week program, the fellows are provided mentoring relationships with ArtTable mentors. This year, ArtTable will offer fellowship placements at cultural institutions nationwide, including American Indian Artists Inc., the Brooklyn Museum, the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Asia Art Archive Names Executive Director<\/i>
\nHong Kong\u2013based nonprofit\u00a0Asia Art Archive<\/b>\u00a0has named artist, curator, and educator\u00a0Christopher K. Ho<\/b>\u00a0as its next executive director. He will succeed cofounder Claire Tsu, who will transition to cochair of the organization\u2019s board. Ho was faculty member of the Rhode Island School of Design and has previously taught at Michigan\u2019s Cranbrook Art Academy and\u00a0 Pratt Institute in New York, among other institutions. He has served on the board of AAA since 2018.<\/p>\n

Amant Sienna Names 2021 Residents\u00a0<\/i>
\nAhead of the opening of its\u00a0new Brooklyn space<\/a>, the\u00a0Amant Foundation\u00a0<\/b>has named the 2021 participants for its\u00a0Sienna Residency Program<\/b>. Launched in 2020, the program invites mid-career artists and writers to continue research projects at their venue in Chiusure, Italy. The 2021 residents are\u00a0Tim Bouverie<\/b>, a historian, writer and political journalist, who will focus on a new book on Allied diplomacy in the Second World War;\u00a0Marcela Calder\u00f3n<\/b>, an artist, producer, who focus on sculpture and traditional Colombian materials;\u00a0Monika Czyzyk<\/b>, a visual artist and experimental documentarian who will develop the ongoing series on 21st century feminism;\u00a0Sky Hopinka\u00a0<\/b>(Ho-Chunk Nation\/Pechanga Band of Luise\u00f1o Indians), an artist whose video, photo, and text work centers personal Indigenous narratives;\u00a0Kabelo Malatsie<\/b>, former director of the Visual Arts Network of South Africa, whose work explores the notion of the \u201cunderground\u201d;\u00a0Robertas Narkus<\/b>, a film and new media artist whose work the intersections of technology and desire;\u00a0Eszter Salamon<\/b>, an artist, choreographer, and performer who uses movement to activate relationships among media; and\u00a0Lantian Xie<\/b>, who will develop a project during his residency that utilizes speech and writing to study the silverfish.<\/p>\n

Spring\/Break Art Show Details 2021 New York Edition<\/i>
\nThe curator-driven\u00a0Spring\/Break Art Show<\/b>\u00a0will return to New York later this year, running from September 7 to 13. Timed to coincide with the Armory Show, Spring\/Break will take up the theme \u201cHearsay:Heresy<\/b>,\u201d for which curators are invited to propose exhibitions that examine practices, issues, events, or artistic styles associated with the medieval period. In a statement, Spring\/Break cofounder Andrew Gori said, \u201cWidespread disease, isolated wealth, American imperialism, and misinformed political perspectives, from all parties and belief systems, continue to build a kind of religious fervor around sharing opinions, and a fear to do so, now more than ever.\u201d Proposals for the 2021 show can be submitted through Spring\/Break\u2019s\u00a0website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sydney Contemporary Reveals 2021 Exhibitors<\/i>
\nMore than 85 Australian and New Zealand galleries will participate in the sixth edition of the\u00a0Sydney Contemporary<\/b>, which runs from September 9 through 12 at the multi-arts center\u00a0Carriageworks<\/b>. It will feature works by more than 400 international. Returning galleries include Sydney\u2019s CHALKHORSE and Darren Knight as well as Melbourne\u2019s\u00a0Alcaston Gallery. 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art Names Director<\/i>
\nYuko Hasegawa\u00a0<\/b>has been appointed as the new director of\u00a021st Century Museum of Contemporary Art<\/b>\u00a0in Kanazawa, Japan. Hasegawa has worked at the museum since its inception in TKyear, previously serving as chief curator and then artistic director. Hasegawa has also curated international art exhibitions including the 7th International Istanbul Biennial (2001), the Shanghai Biennale (2002), the 29th S\u00e3o Paulo Biennial (2010), and Sharjah Biennial 11 (2013).<\/p>\n

Prior to joining the gallery in 2015 as senior director, Norr worked as senior curator of exhibitions at the Wexner Center of the Arts in Columbus, Ohio, and as chief curator at MOCA Cleveland. In his new role, Norr joins founders James and Jane Cohan in leading the gallery.<\/p>\n

Blum & Poe Now Represents\u00a0Lonnie Holley<\/a><\/i>
\nBlum & Poe<\/b>, which maintains spaces in Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles, now represents Atlanta-based artist\u00a0Lonnie Holley<\/b>. A self-taught artist, Holley\u2019s practice spans painting, assemblage, performance, and sandstone carvings. Born in Jim Crow-era Birmingham, Alabama, his works reflect a family history of hardship and perseverance, as well as the Afro-Atlantic tradition of sculpting art from wreckage. His work was included in the landmark 1996 exhibition \u201cSouls Grown Deep: African American Vernacular Art of the South,\u201d and is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Whitney Museum in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C., among other museums.<\/p>\n

Stroom Den Haag Names New Artistic Director<\/i>
\nAlexandra Landr\u00e9<\/b>, who has previously served as artistic director of the Dutch art center Kunstvereniging Diepenheim, has been appointed artistic director of\u00a0Stroom Den Haag<\/b>, an art platform in the Hague, the Netherlands. Throughout her career, Landr\u00e9 has worked on exhibitions at De Appel in Amsterdam, the Kunsthalle M\u00fcnster in Germany, the Kunsthalle Wien, and other institutions.<\/p>\n

Goya Contemporary Gallery Now Represents the Estate of Elizabeth Talford Scott<\/i>
\nGoya Contemporary Gallery<\/b>\u00a0in Baltimore now exclusively represents the estate of\u00a0Elizabeth Talford Scott<\/b><\/a>, who died in 2011. Born in 1916 in South Carolina to parents who were sharecroppers, Scott from an early created elaborate quilts that she would become known for. The artist\u2019s work has been shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Studio Museum in Harlem, among other institutions. Her daughter, the sculptor Joyce J. Scott, is also represented by Goya Contemporary Gallery. Amy Eva Raehse, executive director and partner at Goya, said in a statement, \u201c[Elizabeth Talford Scott\u2019s] work remains as relevant today as it was then, and her influence on other artists is becoming more understood as the field starts to investigate and correct the curatorial and collecting omissions of the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

Petzel Gallery Adds Xie Nanxing to its Roster<\/i>
\nPetzel Gallery<\/b>\u00a0now represents Beijing-based painter\u00a0Xie Nanxing.\u00a0<\/b>Over two decades, Nanxing has exhibited widely in China and Europe, including presentations at the Venice Biennale in 1999 and Documenta 12 in 2007. His wide-ranging subjects include\u00a0 household objects, Snow White, and everyday people caught in moments of undress. His first show at Petzel will be in a group exhibition this summer, where he will present two paintings from his series\u00a0\u201cThe Dwarfs\u2019 Refrain,\u201d\u00a0alongside a new body of illustrations. His work is also currently on view at The Warehouse in Dallas.<\/p>\n
